    Kind of unrelated, but the fact that that picture was taken upside down reminds me that north didn’t have to be at the top of our maps. We could’ve made south the top and our maps would look upside-down but the map would work the same. Same with making east or west the top.

        Ya! “Upside down” doesn’t really exist because down doesn’t exist. What we think of as “down” is just where the Earth’s gravity is pulling us from. “Down” doesn’t exist in space. It does make the photo better!

    I can’t even imagine how much of crazy feeling that must have been to see the Earth from that perspective for the first time. Earth really is a gorgeous planet.
