We’re excited to share that Framework Laptop 16 made it into TIME’s Best Inventions of 2023! This is our second product winning this award, with the original Framework Laptop making it onto the cover in 2021.
I’m not sure that there is yet. Anything that I personally come up with will be open-sourced as soon as there’s enough to put on “paper”. I’m mainly awaiting more design drawings and specs.
My overall plan is:
Display: hinge attachments to quick-release, add AR display co-processor (likely SBC and FPGA, using USB-PD DisplayPort altmode), add low-power terminal display
Keyboard: change to split ergo-mech keyboard
Trackpad: put trackpad in bucket of shame, replace with teack all or nub
Extra space: and jumperless breadboard, PSU, and AWG
The urge to buy a 16 when I already have a fairly new 13. I just wish they had better speakers and a haptic trackpad.
The beautiful thing about the design is that one can implement their own. I intend to replace the entire top.
