Dollars and centers are metric money. Old English money was some Harry Potter bullshit. A pound had twenty shillings, a shilling had twelve pennies, and a penny had four farthings. Apparently this was established by Henry II in 1154 and “decimalisation” (with an s!) did not occur until nineteen seventy god-damn one.
