If lemmy had user-defined filters, I’d use them. Right now I’m downvoting the stuff, but there’s already a community for musk-related stuff: [email protected]

Holy cow, this sounds like a moderation nightmare–glad I don’t have to do it! There’s no way you’re going to get through it without someone complaining about it.
In my mind, this is definitely something that individuals should address with blocks and filters. If those filters don’t exist, they should be written.
For those using the magnificent Sync - Settings shortcut: Filters > Keyword filters
Though you might miss out on some posts about aftershave that contains musk
I think it would be pretty simple with some tooling to auto-flag articles with titles that include either “Elon” or “Musk,” and then a moderator would look at a list and approve/reject each one. Still tedious, just probably not that complicated.
And yeah, we should absolutely have a concept of tagging. Maybe follow Steam’s lead and allow user to suggest tags? If enough users suggest the same tag, it could auto apply and then mods would get a notice and either approve or reject the tag (or kill the thread).
Both require tooling, and I’m not sure if lemmy has that yet.
