Hello, I’m writing my first post about an issue I’m having after assembling my new PC.
All the components are well connected, when I turn on the computer everything lights up, (leds, fans, graphics card, AIO etc…). But once I plug DP or hdmi cable into my card… nothing, no BIOS.
I think the problem is that I’ve installed a 14th generation i7 on an ASUS prime z790-A motherboard and the bios isn’t up to date enough.
What I’m not sure about is:
- How can I update the BIOS with this processor?
- Do you need a 13th gen processor for that?
- And above all, some of my motherboard’s indicator LEDs are still on (white = VGA) green/yellow = boot. Knowing that generally VGA problem is linked to the graphics card.
So I’m wondering if updating the bios will solve the VGA led problem.Has anyone had a similar problem and found a way to make it work?
Here’s my configuration:
-Hyte y40 case (so riser for vertically mounted card)
-Rtx 3070ti Vision
-i7 14700kf
-Asus Prime Z790 A wifi
Thanks for any help
Your motherboard seems to support Asus EZ Flash, so you can update the BIOS without any CPU. All you need is a USB stick with the latest BIOS version.
you can download the bios into a usb pen drive and update using the ez flash feature in the bios.
My buddy had a similar problem with his board. I would recommend using the motherboard graphics to get to bios and do the bios update but you can’t.
My buddy had a F variant CPU and wasn’t able to do this. He had to plug his graphics card into the bottom slot of the mobo to get to bios and do the bios update and then Reassemble it after.
Hello little update here, I’m currently typing on my new PC. Finally!
After struggling for a long time I found a solution. For those who have the same problem as me, try this:
- USE HDMI CABLE, not DP
- If your processor has integrated graphics, use the mobo’s HDMI port, otherwise you need to get a compatible processor (13th gen in my case).
- Update your BIOS
- And finally (after reinstalling your processor), turn on your PC and connect the monitor to the GPU using an … HDMI cable!
Please help! Is there a definite fix to this? I can’t afford to buy another cpu. I have the exact same one as OP and the exact same issue!
