I had too much fun creating masked shopkeepers, so I wanted to share a selection of them. These were made with the new Midjourney Style Tuner. I still don’t have a clear idea on how it contributes, but they seem to be more eccentric and realistic.

For those of us with a Midjourney account, the style page can be found here: https://tuner.midjourney.com/IO1z0OO

Finally, to compare, a slight variation on the last one, but without the style tag included.
Prompt: cyberpunk style, illustration, panoramic shot, Cyberpunk traditional pagan mask, worn by shopkeeper, shopkeeper is leaning on the counter, in an antiquities store --stylize 75 --v 5.2 --ar 4:3

And yes, before you say anything. I do realize none of them are leaning on a counter :) I just left it in because it does seem to make them hold a certain pose.

Shameless plug: If you enjoyed this, or want to see nicer masks. We still have the weekly challenge going on. Feel free to drop by [email protected] (top, pinned post) and vote or contribute if you haven’t yet! :)

Sure, I’d be happy to share what I know!

Well just a few pointers for now:

      • Start your prompt out small and add more with each attempt. Like for this post, I started out with just the mask and the shopkeeper. Then I added the store description, the style and the so forth. The Midjourney documentation has a clear overview here and here about the basics for prompts. Actually, their documentation is quite clear and easy to get through in general. I’d really recommend you browse through there to begin with.
      • Make use of the –ar (aspect ratio) parameter to create landscape or portrait images, depending on what you want to see. Composition is impacted a lot by your choice of aspect ratio.
      • Midjourney is trained to follow a certain “style” of it’s own. You can reduce or enhance this effect with the –s(tylize) parameter.
      • Enable the remix option. It’ll allow you to change the prompt whenever you want a variation on an earlier image. It’s great to fiddle with an existing image to get it the way you want it to be.
      • There’s a sizeable library of styles and genres at https://midlibrary.io. I like to poke around there when I’m looking for some inspiration, though I personally like to stay away from using an artist’s name but that’s just me :)
      • Niji is a fun Anime style, but it’s a lot less accurate than the 5.2 model. Don’t expect the proper amount of fingers is all I’m saying about that one :)

That’s just from the top of my head. It’s midnight here and I should be going to bed. But I wanted to help you get on your way first. Feel free to reply here or message me if you have any questions! (I love sharing stuff, so it’s no bother at all :)

You’re most welcome, always happy to help.

I wouldn’t say Midjourney is better, it has a different focus. Dall-E is really good at making accurate pictures, doing exactly what you ask of it. Midjourney is really good at making nice images that have a consistent style, just don’t get too specific about every little detail. It will feel like trying to swim upstream :)

          Have fun with exploring!
