Was real good.
Looks real nice. I fear it might be too cold and wet for me now up til march. I was hoping to still get one nice weekend in the autumn forest in, but it’s not looking good.
It’s definitely iffy. Going to try and get one more. Have heavy 1 finger gloves and decent cold sleep gear. Fingers crossed I can make it work.
I’m happy for you but kind of sad about this time of the year. I went for some last long rides those past weekends and it was “illegal” as unfortunately for me, most bike paths and camping are closed since mid October and will only reopen mid May where I live. And wild camping is forbidden. I think I’ll look into some camouflage nets and try stealth camping next year.
But the seasonal change has been hitting me hard this year. Hard enough that I’m looking into rail trails and green ways in hotter countries so that I can plan a trip in the middle of winter.
Agree. We found a place that is always open to camp. I agree with trying the stealth and the rail trail, have to be flexible sometimes. Hope you get an experience that satisfies you. 🙏
Rad! Did you do a 1x10 conversion on it?
1x8 28x40 currently with a recently repaired derailleur after it broke on a ride, got home with a zip tie. It’s a janky mess but somehow it works for the time being.
Haha that’s some serious MacGyvering… Nice!
Camping in the shoulder season is great! A little cool but often far fewer bugs.
I’ve only bikepacked once in an area more hike-a-bike than bikepacking, but I still enjoyed it. This photo is a great reminder to just get out and do it. :)
Edit: I just noticed you strapped on a Stanley cook set. That’s easily my favorite camping set. I’ve gone much lighter these days, but I still haul that one out occasionally. It’s so cheap yet so well designed. What a nice idea to strap it onto a bottle cage/holder.
Yes, agree. I built this route to do a bunch of really dynamic things, I like the adventure bike style.
Cook kit is definitely good. Fits a small gas container in there perfectly, perfect size for bottle holder mount. 👌
Crocs are truly the best footwear to bring on a bike trip.
They’re my riding shoes and my camp shoes most of the time, wouldn’t go without them for sure.
I’m sure they must be great since they have so many fans, but i can’t get over their looks. Seems like op is bringing a second pair of shoes too though, so i guess it’s just camp shoes?
I’ll be honest, during the summer the only time I don’t wear Crocs is when I’m on my bike, and that’s only because I don’t want to wear them out. I personally think they look great, and they they had a resurgence as fashionable as few years ago (although that’s died down a bit).
👏
Yep
It’s true, highly underrated imo
sweet ride homie
Ty definitely not gonna see that exact bike out there anywhere else 😎 total amalgamation bike
