Just came here from reddit, making my first post. I played NMS last year for about 40hrs then kind of lost interest. Starfield looks a lot like NMS, but with a lot more content and action. Is anyone going to be trying it out?

The pitch for Starfield seems to be Mass Effect inside an NMS-sized world. If they can pull it off, count me in. Assuming my system specs are up to the challenge.

Hope leads me to excitement for this game.

Historical precedence reminds me that it will be over-hyped and under-delivered.

does NMS take a beefy comp? ive played it on my slightly shit comp but thought it ran fine but just personally built a big beefy boy and wonder how much better it would look/play?

It runs great on a Steam Deck, even when using a higher-resolution external display, so I don’t think it needs anything really beefy. Though I’m sure you’d get better graphics.

I haven’t built a PC in over 10 years so I may have gone a bit nuts with my specs. I figured if I was going to spend the money I wanted something that would last a while. I don’t think NMS requires a beefy PC but it certainly looks and runs awesome. I started on the Switch and quickly decided that I wanted a better experience so, being a huge nerd, I went the DIY PC route. Teleports/warps take seconds instead of minutes, terrain and bases load before I land rather than having to exit my ship and stand there while the door appears on the base I just landed at. Overall, I highly recommend the beefy PC for NMS.

I also just built a new computer and the experience has been so much better and smoother. Built the computer to run AI models so it can definitely max out NMS. Having a blast after not playing since the start of covid when my old computer died.

Yep. Can’t help it, I’m a sucker for a Bethesda game, warts and all. Also, it’s coming to Game Pass day one, so nothing to lose really if you’re already a subscriber.

I imagine it’s going to be more hand crafted and story driven, like the Elder Scrolls or Fallout, rather than the more procedural discovery focused approach of NMS.

Yep! I’ll be adding Starfield to my rotation. It may or may not become my main game for a while. It all depends on how good and interesting it will be. So far, I like what I see!

I’m waiting to see what stance Bethesda takes on mods first. No Bethesda game is complete without mods, and if they force mtx for mods, then I don’t think I’ll buy it personally.

Also, Microsoft boasting it will be a ‘bethesda game with the least amount of bugs’ has me rollin’.

Hell yes. Is it going to be buggy as fuck? I’ll be amazed if it isn’t. There are sure to be people who pick and find fault but as with almost all Bethesda games, it’ll be a solid RPG.

I played Fallout 4 before any of the others in the series and really enjoyed it. Same with Mass Effect, played Andromeda first and really enjoyed it… sometimes critical reception can go a bit overboard highlighting what’s wrong, especially when people have a strong preconceived idea of what it should be like based on past iterations.

I’ll definitely be waiting for the reviews to come in and settle, but assuming it’s a solid game I’ll probably give it a shot being a big fan of Fallout and Elder Scrolls. I’ve got such a backlog, though, it likely won’t be any time soon.

I am likely going to play it as I have played most of their games but I’m going to wait a bit. Not in a rush. Let some of the bugs get fixed. I just got back into NMS after not having a computer for the past 3 years. Game looks great on my new one. So much more to do than when I last played.

The game being on game pass makes an easy pick up for me. But if I consider buying on steam I’ll wait until the game releases first
