I mean, obviously you can’t price match SpaceX, since they’re doing an Amazon and burning venture capital to operate at a loss. SpaceX literally can’t launch rockets at SpaceX prices, why would anyone else be able to?

Did you read the article? Ariane 6 would still be disappointing in a world where SpaceX didn’t exist. It’s behind schedule by enough that Ariane 5 retired and ESA doesn’t have a big rocket anymore, and all the promised cost savings disappeared. ESA is literally going to subsidize Amazon Kuiper launches.

I’m hoping RFA, PLD, Isar, Skyrora, etc. can shake up European launch and dethrone ArianeGroup.

Not anymore. Falcon 9 and starlink are both well-established and successful programs, and SpaceX has managed to turn a (small) profit this year. It’s not impossible to price match SpaceX, just highly unlikely that anyone will be able to do so with fully disposable rockets. As a result, it’s taking the rest of the launch industry a few years to adapt and catch up.

They cleared 2 million subscribers now and had a profitable quarter, but yeah, dude’s “aspirational goals” should go in the dumpster with every tech startup’s exponential growth projections.
