US citizen here - I wish we still had politicians that resigned when they got caught in a corruption scandal. Now people use the Trump playbook. Say that the facts are a lie, and drag it out as long as possible so you can milk being in power.
As a Portuguese citizen, while I’m not happy with the government being involved in murky deals (regardless of whether it ends up being illegal or not), I’m happy the prime minister not only resigned, but also emphasized several times that he trusts the justice system and that it needs to be respected.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that someone set such a precedent. We need to keep fighting for accountability in our leaders.
