As of July 1, in addition to Vermont, four other states’ IDs will face extra scrutiny from police, as they may provide forms of identification to applicants who do not give proof of citizenship or legal status:
Delaware
Connecticut
Hawaii
Rhode Island
The law directs Florida police officers to write a ticket to anyone they pull over who has what is now recognized as an invalid license.
Should we also punish people for doing things that were not a crime when they did it but is now?
No. But in the case of signing clearly unvetted laws, they were enacting things that weren’t constitutional before – and continue to not be constitutional now.
It doesn’t have to be a felony. Maybe misdemeanor misrepresentation.
As usual, it’s a problem that should be resolved by those lawmakers becoming completely unelectable. Instead GOP voters love it
