Is it a good idea to buy a cheap tablet on say Amazon to run my home automation apps? That way it’s always connected and ready to control? My phone has been glitchy and takes a bit to connect after I’ve been gone.

I mounted an iPad mini on the wall with a custom wall mount I bought off etsy that has a space for a small charger to keep it powered on. I’m sure you can do the same with any tablet. I mounted it on the wall above a place where there’s an electric outlet so I was able to fish down through the wall and tie the box into to the electrical.

Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus tablet along with table charging dock. Bought both from Amazon for only $99.

I use Home Assistant for my home automation system. I side loaded the Google Play Store and have it running with fully kiosk. Display turns on based on motion detection. Turns off after no motion for 1 minute. I use several different dashboards, just depending on what I’d like to control. Works great!

That’s cool!! I was just looking at the fire tablet. I’m so new to this. I’ll look into home assist too.
