Rep. Rashida Tlaib is a member in a secret Facebook group whose members have glorified Hamas after the terror group attacked Israel in early October, Fox News Digital has found.
This entire article is basically guilt by association.
The Palestinian American Congress group, of which Tlaib is a member, has featured pro-Hamas posts in the wake of the deadly Oct. 7 attack on Israel.
So what?
Tlaib has a long history with Abdel-qader, the founder of the Palestinian American Congress group, who has repeatedly promoted antisemitic conspiracy theories over the years. He previously shared a video that called Jews “satanic” and questioned whether 6 million of them had died in the Holocaust.
What does this dude’s alleged comments have to do with Tlaib?
Let me show you what I mean by looking at the current House Speaker, Mike Johnson:
The Alliance Defending Freedom is an anti-LGBTQ group that has supported maintaining laws against “sodomy”. Here’s their amicus brief in Lawrence v. Texas. In it, it says,
The CDC has identified men who have sex with men as among the groups that “are most vulnerable to STDs and their consequences . . . .” Id. at 39 (Introduction to “Special Focus Profiles”). One reason that men who have sex with men are at high risk of STDs is the nature of anal sex. Anal sex is not the same as sexual intercourse because of the differences between the vagina and the anus.
You can CTRL + F that entire paragraph of the ADF campaiging against gay rights under concerns about health.
Now, I could then claim that Mike Johnson is a member of the ADF and, thus, by association, he hates gay people, too!
This is what the Fox News article does. It’s also intellectually dishonest. An association, especially one on Facebook where the last post of 5 years ago, does not indicate much of anything.
And that’s why the Rolling Stones article in the last link is of higher quality than that Fox News crap. Fox News is merely saying that Tlaib has some ephemeral association with a group. Big whoop. Rolling Stones is saying Johnson did actual work for the ADF. He did it for 8 years! He actively supported its goals. He must agree with the organization.
The leap that Tlaib supports Hamas because of an weak association to a Facebook group is one of faith in comparison to the minor step of Johnson’s support for the anti-LGBTQ Alliance Defending Freedom based on the work he did for it.
Johnson’s support for the ADF would mean he supports their cause. In your particular example that would mean Johnson is against sodomy. Being against sodomy doesn’t mean he hates gay people.
Johnson supports the ADF because he worked for it for 8 years.
Tlaib is a member of a group that celebrates taking hostages, celebrates killing soldiers, wants Jews to go back where they came from,… That would indicate Tlaib also shares those values.
She’s a been a Facebook member for 6 years, and her last post was 5 years ago. I have hard time making the leap that she supports the group’s values. I still have a Tutanota email address out there that I signed up for like 5 years ago, but that doesn’t mean I support Tuta’s mission (I do though…just be clear).

The intellectually honest thing to do is point out that the dishonorable Mike Johnson worked for the Alliance Defending Freedom
