I have no idea how, was looking at some guides, but every setting i adjust, boom bluescreen. The NH-d15 is handling 230 watts like the champ it is (60⁰C above ambient), but still I kind of wanted a bit more efficiency. Is there some settings, that are not that hard to fiddle with that could give me a decent drop in watts without impacting performance? My motherboard is the Asrock Z790 taichi lite, and running 7200mhz ram
limit the pl1 and pl2 to 200w or even 180. thank me later
That’s what I do with my i7 12700k, I limit both pl1 and pl2 to 165w and get 21800 points in Cinebench R23 instead of usual 22000 points, but about 20C less, for almost no performance loss.
Correction: I did set the voltage offset to -100mV, which reduced power consumption by 5 watts
No, undervolting improves performance. It will *always* consume to what you set the TDP. So, by lowering the TDP and then undervolting, you can keep the same performance at lower TDP (and that’s a lot more than 5W for a 100mV under-volt).
Your power readings are wrong. You need to setup DC LL properly from the bios to get accurate power readings
how?
I use the 13600k and just use the mode 9/10/11 thing, this is the same as underclocking right?
Yeah that wasn’t my experience, and I have a b760 board and shouldn’t even be able to undervolt (gigabyte had a workaround for me.)
Anyway, it just kept on going. 150 200 250 didn’t bluescreen until 300mv. Just luck of the draw I guess. If that doesn’t work… you just have the power limits (pl1 and pl2). That or send it back and try to get a replacement.I just retired my NH-D15s to another build because it was not handling my 14900k and put a Kraken 280mm aio. It’s doing great at 288w and .050v undervolt in xtu. Cinebench23 is mid 80’s to low 90’s. Going to keep working on it. You are correct for not settling for less performance, you paid for that chip to serve you.
Here is my setting OC with undervolt for 13700KF (Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX DDR5):
CPU UPGRADE: Max Performance (P-Core: 54 & E-Core: 44
Enhanced Multi-Core Performance : Disable
Dynamic V-Core (DVID): -0.050
TDP: P1 (125w) & P2 (253w)
