As Israel intensifies its ground offensive in Gaza, amid serious humanitarian concerns, its former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has told Euronews: “the war must go on” until Israel reaches its endgame: the end of Hamas.

"Oh sorry, Hamas actually was never in northern Gaza in the hospital we’ve been claiming they’ve been in for years, in the imaginary tunnels we claimed existed with an extensive multi-leveled underground structure we even made a 3D video for.

No, actually, they’ve been in this other hospital in southern Gaza this whole time, the area we told everyone from northern Gaza to go to and totally aren’t just using as an excuse to continue the invasion into the rest of the country."

The IDF completely failed to show any evidence of a “Hamas command center” at al-Shifa, despite spending weeks claiming it was the primary command center with a multi-leveled underground network. They made an entire 3D mockup video.

Now, they claim that in 3 days while the hospital was under siege by the IDF, Hamas concreted up all of the tunnels so perfectly that they can’t even show evidence of said tunnels being blocked off.

How am I defending Hamas by pointing out blatant lies by the IDF?

The US is just using the same ‘intelligence’ Israel has, there’s no evidence they’ve got their own sources (or they wouldn’t have been surprised by Oct 7).

If Hamas had enough opsec to secretly prepare an attack with thousands of fighters, there’s no reason anything would’ve changed afterwards.

In answer to your final question. You asked if the US is making this stuff up for Israel’s sake.

To begin with, the question itself is mistaken. US intelligence is not independently gathered. The US intelligence community is making statements based on things that they’re told by Israeli government sources. So they aren’t making anything up, because all they’re doing is repeating what someone else said.

Second, there is no single motive that captures the US’s goals. Different people within the US government have their own objectives. Supporting Israel is one objective that some people have, in addition to all of their other objectives.
