Controversial decision that but at least pickford saved it. Good dive from him, unlucky with the rebound obviously but I have faith England will step it up a gear next half and win.

They clearly realised they fucked up on the Maguire call and had to make it up later

Ref fucked the Maguire decision to then give the softest penalty I’ve ever seen. Feel bad for Rico, not fair at all.

Just how? He’s jumped and headed the ball. Not like he’s thrust an elbow, it’s just part of his jumping motion and his hand has flicked a bloke on his blindside. Genuine shocker that they’ve probably only given to compensate for the one they didn’t get earlier.

Seeing a lot of folk in this thread who have clearly never played the game. No intent in that whatsoever and to get that high up you need to use your arms like that for momentum. Rubbish call from the ref.

Intent has zero bearing on whether or not it was a foul. If a player mistimes a challenge and catches another player it’s a foul even though they didn’t mean it. If he has to use his arms to get that high he’s leaving the referee with a decision to make if he then catches an opponent in the face.

You don’t get a free pass just because you’re young and it’s your debut.
