As the title says. I’m looking for orange ink. Not too bright, not too muted, ideally tangerine 🍊 colour but a bit dirty - imagine a tangerine tree growing next to a busy road. Available in Europe.
I have several pens inked with orange ink so I took a moment to do a sample of them together.
I don’t know why but I cannot open your link. On the app (I use Memmy for Lemmy) it takes me to a blank screen and on my computer the link is not a link !

I just got Diamine Autumn Oak, and it’s a really pleasant orange with good shading and great flow. On my paper (Lamy, Rhodia and Midori MD) it’s a bit more muted in color than on Mountain of Ink swatch 🧡
I use Diamine Pumpkin:
@cedled @Korvmedbrod It doesn’t evaporate and form ink crud on the nib? A few Diamine orange colors do that. But dipping the nib in water reconstitutes the ink and washes it off.
@pixiecata In my experience, Diamine Pumpkin doesn’t turn into a powdery gunk on the nib, like Diamine Ancient Copper does.
Most of my inks are Diamine and none of them does that. But I don’t have any oranges (except for Sailor’s Warning which is not really orange)
@Korvmedbrod I have many Diamine inks (except oranges), but this drying out ink crud phenomenon has been observed with just the oranges.
These are the oranges I’ve had experience with:
Diamine Blaze Orange (my first & probably favourite) is likely too strong, it leans towards orangered, and Pennonia Róka Koma is almost identical to it. Diamine Pumpkin Shimmer is maybe a touch paler with a gold shimmer. Diamine Deep Dark Orange is a more subdued dark orange & is a fantastic ink. Diamine Peach Punch (Inkvent '21) is an orangey-peach. Diamine Wonderland (Inkvent '21) is a bright yellow-orange. And lastly, Diamine Flame (Inkvent '22) is a good mid orange, and it smells of matches! I haven’t had any signs of nib crud from these inks, but YMMV.
As @[email protected] mentioned, the Mountain of Ink blog is the best place to go to get a good idea of how different inks look and perform.
