As a weeb in the 90’s I told the BACA guys I knew they should rethink how their name was pronounced. No one gave a shit.

IIRC a lot of Biker Gangs are the western equivalent of your tropic “run this city right” Mafiosos.

Example that comes most to mind is a particular gang taking control of a city’s red light district and more or less whipping it into shape, it was still a red light district but it was also a safe operating space for sex workers and with gang members providing better local security than the cops had ever done.

Was touring through Scotland together with my father in an aeroplane. In one of the towns there was a huge biker meeting with tons of dangerous looking bikers. In a restaurant we ended up sitting at a table next to some of them. Got into a conversation and learned (admittedly not to our surprise) that the biker nuts are not so different from the flying idiots.

Honestly, I’ve been privy to so many subcultures over the years and they are all kind of the same. They’ve all got their in jokes that most of them find hilarious. They all have some members who look totally out of place. They all have at least one jolly fat lady and one grumpy skinny gal. It really doesn’t matter what connects them. Star Wars, cosplay, LOTR, LGBTQ+, TTRPG players, pilots, bikers, skydivers, even the Highland Gamers we saw.

Now I wonder if the same holds true for KKK and such. Probably.

Edit: Forgot the most important quality. They all say “We are so crazy!”
