Phone skin designs are related to computer hardware?
For people who care more about showing off their tech than actually using it. What’s the point of having a high end device if you can’t show people how unique and creative you are by buying something somebody else made?
Is it just me, or is tweeting about upcoming litigation just incredibly stupid… on both sides.
It’s just legal fodder for the lawyers / judge.
Why the hell is this being downvoted? What a weird sub.
So this the correct and perfectly reasonable response gets downvoted and the guy bitching about twitter gets the upvotes what the fuck is happening here?
Normally, I would agree with you. You want the defense to begin putting together their case when they receive the served papers. Giving them a heads up just gives them more time to prep.
But there’s no way that dbrand and Zack would have done this without their lawyers’ approval. This appears to be a slam dunk case and, by giving this type of heads up, it expedites the eventual settlement. No way this goes to a trial of any kind. Casetify knows they screwed up, and they will want this to go away as quickly as possible to minimize the harm to their brand.
My guess? We’re going to get an undisclosed settlement, an NDA on all sides, and no admission of wrong doing on Casetify’s part.
Think of it as a legal tactic. When you’ve got them dead to rights, publicly turning the screws will pressure Casetify to quickly settle, which is what will end up happening. Don’t be surprised if Casetify writes a check and this quietly goes away.
didnt dbrand say/write that they are not interested in a silent settlement beforehand?
Settlements don’t have to be silent, it could include requirements that Casetify apologizes publicly or admits wrongdoing or something.
But you would say that to get a bigger pay check
Wouldn’t really say it is stupid, especially if it highlights the proof of something. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with pointing out blatant theft and publicly calling them out.
Here’s the video to it https://youtu.be/byfWscC87Vg?si=fn1pZzwO1p81fm60
They included easter eggs/intentional mistakes from the original in their copied designs. That’s a textbook way of proving copyright infringement; what a massive fuck up.
And then the shitty resolution, it’s hard to read anything that’s printed on the case.
This won’t go to court. It’s a 0% chances of winning for Casetify and it would destroy their remaining reputation to go in court against one of the most respected youtuber in tech.
They will give a huge sum of money to Zack’s wheelchair foundation and to Dbrand to save their face.
DBRAND is shit lol
If that’s the standard, then what is Casetify?
diarrhea
MINIMIZE and DEFLECT Casetify, MINIMIZE and DEFLECT. Thank you all for your understanding.
DDOS attack when the allegation arrived, uh huh.
I doubt it lol, it was probably a lot of people checking their shitty rip off skins after Zack’s video. These morons probably never seens such a big influx of users and thought they are under attack 🙄
I really never understood Casetify as a brand… Based in Hong Kong, clearly just purchases all the excess inventory from Taobao / JD, has very similar designs to all the thrift store rip offs, then somehow sells these designs for $80 a pop.
Like you can find pretty much every design you can think of on these Chinese websites for like $2, which are likely from the same factory, minus all the ugly and thick branding from Casetify. Last thing I want in the limited real estate I have on a phone case is for it to be plastered with an ugly logo
Yea I don’t get got they Aliexpress / Wish tier products get retail placements at BestBuy and charge prices similar to Otterbox and Spigen.
