I was definitely guilty of this ^

Top Panel - Gordon Ramsey scowling with the caption “You fucking donkey.”: Seeing an old repost on [Reddit logo]
Bottom Panel - Gordon Ramsey hugging a child with the caption “Oh dear, oh dear. Gorgeous.”: Seeing an old repost on [Lemmy logo]
In all seriousness, I don’t mind reposts that people haven’t seen recently or are largely forgotten. When mfs repost something everyone just saw I get peeved.

Here, at least I have an excuse: since not all communities are federated or subscribed to all the memes communities, I crossposted this meme once so that more people can see them.

Why post if not OC? Don’t repost memes, make memes
There are good jokes in old posts, such as those bubbly iMessage screenshots from years ago. People posting their old meme stashes does liven this place up a bit for a little amount of effort.
Personally I try to make original memes based off of templates. (Like this one)
God I’m so glad to be rid of that, I was always the guy saying “well I haven’t seen it”
Absolutely. I wonder if this mentality will come back here in some places eventually…
It will, because people will become tired of scrolling through meters of stuff they have already seen. It will start by people downvoting things they have seen multiple times, then they will try to block users doing it and if it doesn’t help the complaining will start.
Perhaps, hoping in the future we will have better tools to prevent it or curate feeds better to suit a user’s liking.
Server or communities with stricter rules on reposting could emerge to mitigate it as well.
Luckily, it seems there is a solid chunk of OC in with the old memes, plus all the Star Trek themed memes are new to me for sure so I’m none the wiser there.
Okay but what happens when the same damn meme is posted within hours of each other, like this exact meme?
Still didn’t see it
And if you’ve never heard music before you’d probably think Baby Shark was an amazing song; your lack of awareness doesn’t make something quality or appropriate
And your awareness of something doesn’t make it poor quality or inappropriate, if you often think with such a self centered mindset, you’re liable to drive yourself crazy on a place that cares as little as the internet long before you convince it to change
I literally just saw this exact meme post elsewhere.
y-, uh… y’know the… one thing I shou-… excuse me for one second.
(jokes aside I crossposted this to one other community so that everyone could partake in my memery)
