So yesterday my Anker 100W charger died on the second use, so I bought another one, this time by Teknet (also 100W) which arrived today. Straight out of the box I plug it into my FW 13 and got nothing. Tried it on my phone, still nothing.

I made a post yesterday asking if I could use a 20W iPhone charger temporarily as long as I wasn’t using the laptop at the time. I’m doing that and it’s working, so I’m confident the laptop is ok.

Are chargers from Amazon just bad? Is this just a coincidence that I’ve had two broken ones so close together? Or is destiny trying to prevent me using my new laptop?

I can’t see how a charger can fail because of what it’s charging, especially if it has plenty of headroom (a Framework 13 is designed for a 65W charger). More likely to fail because it’s either a lemon or the electrical outlet is bad in some way, so I call bad luck on the Anker and perhaps predictable luck on the rando brand.

I’ve never heard of Teknet, but I have an anker wall charger and 2 Anker car chargers that are still running strong after a couple of years. So my guess is with the Anker you got unlucky and found a faulty unit.

Probably bad luck. There are quite a few framework laptops out there and plenty of folks using other chargers, so far there doesn’t seem to be a general trend that they don’t work or cause issues.

But I’d stick to known brands, the mystery ones often don’t perform as claimed and are pretty shoddy on the safety features. Anker and UGreen seem to be popular and reliable based on forum posts. I see you had an Anker that died, but try another charger and hopefully your luck changes.

Bad luck with the Anker. We have so many Anker products and none have failed. Never heard of second brand. I’d try Anker again.

I like my ugreen 100w chargers. Use them on my fw and plenty of other devices, never have an issue for several months now

Buy from reputable brands, make sure they supply the full wattage to a single USB-C port if it has multiple ports.

If they fail, it may just be a defective unit. Hopefully if you exchange it, the second will be good.

Sounds like your charging port might be killing power adapters…what happened to the 65w charger that came with your framework?

I got mine as a DIY kit, and decided to buy RAM, SSD and power adapter separately, which means I don’t have a FW power adapter. I’m now questioning my life choices, and probably just going to buy a FW one

I’m not sure where in the world you are, but to my North American ears I’ve never heard of Teknet. Could be a bad brand, or a bad model where it can (in theory) hit 100w but fails spectacularly when you try.

FWIW, both my ugreen, aukey, and Anker chargers of various wattage are working fine.

I’m in UK. I agree with Teknet being a bit unheard of, but reviews were very good. I was more surprised about the Anker failing yesterday as I’ve heard good things about them

Actual reviews or Amazon reviews? Amazon reviews are often just bought off or botted by a bunch of those no name Chinese brands that pop up on Amazon.
