I hope that AMD continues this trend in the future where they keep the previous Socket around even after a new one comes out. They’ve made the AM4 platform an entry to budget PC builds that still have extremely good performance.
AMD has done a really good job with socket retention. With another SKU releasing in 2024, 7 years is a long time for support and if anyone stuck with Ryzen 1000 or 2000 until now, then you really got your money’s worth and just get a drop in upgrade.
