  • I haven’t watched the full thing, but he picked a 3060 TI, I used a 3070 FE for years and it worked just fine for steamvr with my index for beatsaber, Gorn, surgeon simulator, super hot, mini golf, and lots of other games. Both are above the minimum recommended specs for VR so as long as you don’t mind adjusting some settings here and there as needed I’m sure it’ll do fine.

  • Imo that’s perfectly fine and not idiotic if you have a static IP, no ISP blocked ports / don’t care about using alt ports, and don’t mind people who find your domain knowing your IP.

I did basically that when I had a fiber line but then I added a local haproxy in front to handle additional subdomains. I feel like people gravitate towards recommending that because it works regardless of the answers to the other questions, even their security tolerance if recommending access only over VPN.

I have CGNAT now so reverse proxy in the cloud is my only option, but at least I’m free to reconfigure my LAN or uproot everything and plant it on any other LAN and it’ll all be fine.

  • This is 99% my setup, just with a traefik container attached to my wifeguard container.

Can recommend especially because I can move apartments any time, not care about CGNAT (my current situation which I predicted would be the case), and easily switch to any backup by sticking my boxes on any network with DHCP that can reach the Internet (like a 4G hotspot or a nanobeam pointed at a public wifi down the road) in a pinch without reconfiguring anything.

  • I unfortunately can’t really say since I’ve only played an hour with a friend who is really into it, and I never grew up playing any of the Mario party games. But I know a few people who really like it so it can’t be that bad I guess haha. I also can’t speak to joycons because we use Xbox controllers, I think there are some mini games that rely on Xbox layout / colors so that might be rough

  • I used to collect tons of local multiplayer couch co-op games back in college when I had 3 other gamer housemates. Lots of junk but some gems. My favorite has to be gang beasts and Blur (you’ll have to pirate that one these days - think Mario kart if it was made in the style of need for speed). Also golf with your friends has good local multiplayer support as well as olliolli2 if you’re into side scrolling skateboarding. Then there’s chaotic cooperative games like overcooked, moving out, and out of space, as well as Magicka 2. For a Mario party type game there’s pummel party, and a good twin stick shooter is assault android cactus.

Thank you it’s ok. Rest assured the people in my life are doing plenty to encourage me to try different things and it started to feel like this thread was turning into piling onto retreading those same conversations when I didn’t intend on opening that can of worms.

    I appreciate it’s well intentioned though ❤️
