I look at it like a non-voluntary piggy bank. I set the amount I’m going to withhold from every pay check, and anything over, gets given back. Sure it’s interest free but if you look at an actual bank, interest rates on that money sitting in a savings account is pennies. And if you’re someone who is bad at not spending your money, having it held for you with no real way to withdraw it is helpful when budgeting.

Besides, it’s easy to over pay, it’s pretty difficult for most people to net zero on tax payments without ending up owing money. And the amount you owe, could be something you hadn’t budgeted for. I owe $450 this year. I don’t really know where I’m getting that money. Most people will be less happy owing money than over paying and getting a refund.

Why do you think that? I have seen and heard the use of the word “penultimate” as a literary device to praise something very good. It’s not even that big of a stretch. I’m sorry people only ever use words to mean exactly how they are defined in the dictionary when around you. Also, words are meaningless without the people who use them. Why don’t you try correcting people less and instead, when you think someone is using words incorrectly, try to understand in what way they could be correct.

In this case penultimate is used to describe something that is nearly perfect. As if to say, there is little room for improvement.

Ehhhh, you can still get in there. Also there are several control panel only functions. It’s been pretty frustrating how they’ve incremented change. I feel like they should have gone menu by menu in control panel and just built their new settings application page by page and then just pushed one big control panel alternative. Then they could phase the old one out or leave it in for legacy users or whatever. But the new settings and how that menu changes every few months is frustrating as hell.

That wasn’t even the reason for that change. There just plain wasn’t much room on the GBA SP for a headphone jack. People have modded them in aftermarket but every single one of the possible positions looks like crap and the GBA was never the pinnacle of audio hardware. In fact, the headphone jack made a triumphant return on every handheld Nintendo has released since the GBASP, including the GBA Micro.

(I am not saying there weren’t good bops on the GBA, most Pokemon tunes are incredible. Just that audio quality was never a priority for design on the GBA.)

Every generation has a word soup vocabulary that generations prior don’t get or can’t use properly. It mostly falls out of vogue in a few years. Almost all of the words that are being used ironically to make fun of the lexicon, will become obsolete. The words that don’t get the highest usage and remain stable in unironic use will move forward with the rest of the English language. That’s just how language works.

It’s not as simple as leaving the country. Not everyone has a passport here. And the vast majority of Americans cannot afford to up end their lives and skip town let alone move to another country entirely. Then it comes to which country to move to. Most countries have requirements for visa entry. If you intend on staying permanently, you have to meet even stricter requirements like higher education, and even then, they won’t permit your visa if you aren’t in a field that would do good for their country. Some places may have a program similar to America’s H1B visa where you can get a job and work in that job to stay in the country but then your livelihood is at the mercy of a stranger in a foreign land letting you keep your job until you can convince the government to give you citizenship. You don’t just move to another country. And anyone who can just move to another country is exceedingly privileged.

I’m just pointing out what you literally said in your initial comment. You said everyone who doesn’t fight but is calling for violence is letting the Nazi’s happen. Then you proceeded to say you are also not going to fight them… Also you said you weren’t going to use insults and then proceeded to throw the word coward in there without knowing anything about me. You don’t get to be a hypocrite and then be upset when your hypocrisy is pointed out. I’m not saying you should go fight, you clearly have your reasons not to, but you yourself just said that you can’t call for violence while not fighting.

I feel like a good countermeasure to tariffs would be to implement export tariffs. I’m not an economist but if you tax your own businesses exporting to the US and there are import fees on the other end as well, the importer gets absolutely screwed and will have to pass that along to the customer as well. Meaning a 25% tariff in the US could effectively be whatever price Canada wants it to be for the end consumer. Effectively turn the carrot into a stick.

For what amount of time? The statistic just doesn’t make sense when framed this way.
