Why would the USSR deliberately starve a fellow socialist Republic? Why would Stalin, a Georgian, have some kind of Russian chauvinist grudge against Ukrainians? Why would Lenin (Donbass), Stalin (Lviv), and Khruschev (Crimea) all expand the territory of the Ukrainian SSR while also trying to kill off the people inside of it?

My key question: Why would Stalin stop? If the Holodomor was a deliberate attempt to genocide the Ukrainian people, it would be to my knowledge the only genocide in the history of the world where the perpetrator just randomly decided to stop the genocidal actions and never again make any attempt to restart it for the next 30 years of his life.

Yes, it is a complicated issue.

What’s complicated about it, name one single aspect about the issue that cannot be solved with “yes or no”.

What if an issue is genuinely complicated and cannot be resolved by a three word statement of position? Can there be no discussion around that?

That’s fine if it’s an issue that is worthy of debate.

We’re talking here specifically about the rights and survival of human beings, and in that kind of case, no. There is no room for debate. There is no complexity. You either support people’s right to live, or you don’t. There fundamentally cannot be a grey area here; any response that includes the words “yes, but” automatically cedes ground to fascists.

At the end of the day they’re still armed aircraft, so they will present some form of potential trouble to the Russians. Even if all you get is one sortie per aircraft, that’s still a good number of potential bombed vehicles/tanks or helicopters shot down.

As for countermeasures, the F-16 has been a known quantity since its inception in the 70s, and it was considered a wunderwaffen back then. The Soviets quite literally designed their modern jets and air defence to take out the F-16 and its contemporaries, so an F-16 wouldn’t be much trouble for literally any Russian SAM system, and would be eaten alive by any modern Russian jets.

Unfortunately I’m not much of an expert, just used to be one of those kids interested in military equipment and some quick and dirty Wikipedia and Google searches for some information.

If I do come across some particularly good information though I’ll definitely look into posting some!

The F-16 wouldn’t last long I don’t think.

They’re good, agile, short operational range fighters, which is good for defensive actions. But their operational range is significantly less than any fighters fielded by both Russia and Ukraine, and with a lower service ceiling. They’re also fairly old second-line type equipment, even when fully upgraded; the kind of stuff the US sells to poorer allies just to get rid of. It means they’ll probably be dunked on by modern Russian SAMs like S-400s.

They are still armed fighters, they are still dangerous, but they’re equally easy to swat down and harder to use due to their more stringent runway requirements.

Jesus Christ the video makes it entirely worse. She’s sitting in a desk/chair combination and so is stuck in place while the cop basically thrashes her around the room, nearly smashing her head/neck off another desk, and violently wrenching her from the desk.
