I want to second using the website as a pwa. It works quite well.

That’s also asshole design. Most people are behind some form of nat. It’s especially egregious for customers of ISPs who use CGNAT.
Disappointing but expected.
I’d kill for a game with the scope of Skyrim where the NPCs truly felt like they were living their own lives.
Because they don’t always exist.
Sorry, still learning. Saw the reddit link and my brain fixated on that.
I have the same problem on both. Seems like the !name@server nor the full url ever populate. What I am finding is that after some time, if I come back and just type in a partial name (to search federated communities) it’ll show up.
I feel that. I have maybe 3 friends who use Signal. The rest are spread out sms, fb, discord, etc…
Care to link it for those of us who don’t want to give reddit traffic?
I mean yes but, you don’t have to use it.
The fact that everyone treats Golem-Picard as True-Picard felt to me like confirmation that, in the ST universe, what makes you you is your mind. Memories, thought patterns, etc… I know it was tv-show hand wavery but the fact that no one mourned the death of their friend, or really ever once questioned the validity of the golem taking his place bothered me a little.
Maybe then we just need to mirror that activity here.
Maybe start by alerting those admins of the potential problem and give them a chance to respond.
I didn’t have a good frame of reference. I see now that 6000+ users is abnormal.
It’s also possible, being that it’s a new instance, it’s just being used to subscribe to communities outside of that instance.
Is this actually working for anyone on lemmy.one right now? I have been unable to subscribe to any community/magazine/etc… that’s not already federated to lemmy.one for almost a week now.
I’ve tried searching by URL. I’ve tried searching by !name@server.
Nothing works, it just sits there. I’ve hit search multiple times. I’ve tried to be patient and just come back later and try again. I get there’s growing pains, and I’m guessing this server is getting overloaded. If that’s the case, the admin posting in Meta “hey we’re aware of the problems” would be nice.
Sure, and I 100% understand that. But, we’re talking about what if it could be real.
Could be head canon but I’m pretty sure the air is dematerialized when the people are rematerialized. Not sure how they keep more air from rushing in.
Seriously, once the shields are down why aren’t they just dematerializing parts of the enemy ship?
So I’ve been messing around with standing up my own instance (mostly as a learning tool) and near as I can tell, even with email verification and registration required it still creates the user, they’re just not enabled. How are you differentiating between servers with a large amount of unverified accounts vs servers with open signups?
