Pixel 6 Pro running GrapheneOS, which I got a couple months ago. Pixel phones are the only ones compatible with GrapheneOS, otherwise I would’ve kept my Samsung phone tbh
i agree with what they brought up, as we probably don’t want c/vancouver to be a carbon copy of r/vancouver, however i also think that fetching some valuable pieces of news (perhaps some of u/cyclinginvancouver’s posts, for instance) automaticatically here might make sense, at least initially?
I’ve been using a LG 27GR95QE for a couple of months now and I love it.
One of the issues with OLED monitors is sub-pixel rendering/layouts being different than usual LCD, which you can mostly bypass in Linux (I’ve been using it for work and am really not bothered after 8hrs/day looking at code).
Interested in your experience with ChimeraOS (if you experiment with games, that is). I believe it’s very basic atm, as there’s no TDP control or anything?
haha, sorry to hear, but i’m not even surprised at that all failed login and almost-but-not-quite-refund debacle, that’s why i only ever set up local accounts on windows nowadays.
i’d be interested to get your opinion on the Ally once you’ve had a chance to play a bit more with it, especially compared to the Deck.
Mostly walking, biking, onewheeling or public transit. Every once in a while I end up using carsharing.
ChimaeraOS and HoloISO are pretty good options for 3rd party handhelds, but I agree, it would be so much better/easier if Valve did that and ultimately it would probably be a win-win for them.
That’s great! I only started collecting pretty recently, I started gaming after the SNES’s generation and never really got a chance to play it growing up.
I guess that collection must have a lot of sentimental value as well now?
I alternate between my trusty Onewheel Pint (which I’ve rewheel modded and got a GT40 battery mod for, so I can comfortably go 35-40km on a single charge) - mostly rides around the city and on trails - and a Ride1Up Cafe Cruiser. This one is fully kitted for my SO to sit on the back or to go for weekly grocery hauls (I also got panniers at the front, haha), it’s a very nice ride and I love it.
I really love my Analogue Pocket, but I (quite literally five minutes ago) just bought a Miyoo Mini Plus, for the convenience of save states everywhere.
I fear I won’t be able to help you choose either, haha. I feel like it’s always a “struggle” between getting the most authentic experience and just convenience, really.
The Miyoo might ultimately make it easier for you to pick up and play in short bursts, if that’s what you’re after.
Some do, but much fewer than on Game Pass, it’s not the model Sony is trying to push.
That being said, you’ll usually find first-party titles after a year or so (but they might not stay indefinitely).
I would recommend taking a look at gamika.me if you want to get an idea of how both services compare. I personally enjoy both, maybe for slightly different reasons? I still think PS Plus Extra is a great deal though!
The in-app image viewer is such a welcome feature!
thank you all for your hard work and contributions to making our experience on Lemmy so nice
Finally back into DMC 5, because I’ve been playing My Day Job: The One To Pay The Bills for the past week and a half (and that wasn’t fun…)
I’m lazy so I’ll just link to my comment on this very thread.
I haven’t actually reinstalled MSFS since upgrading from a Series S to a Series X earlier this year, so I can’t confirm whether stuttering on the X is still a thing, but performance on the S was pretty much flawless. I didn’t install Lost Odyssey on the S back when I had it so I can’t tell, sorry!
As for performance and graphical fidelity in other games, it will vary, and you’ll likely notice it, as did I, coming from a PS5 - especially on 1440p/4K set. As a game pass machine though, it’s really hard to beat price-to-performance wise.
This video from Digital Foundry also highlights specific differences for MSFS that usually aren’t present in other game. The short of it is that you might actually notice more stutters on Series X than Series S, surprisingly, at the quite obvious expense of graphical fidelity.
the “game preservationist” in me hopes it - at least - won’t require a day 1 patch on top of that!
not sure that it will close, although that might be a short lived workaround, but i won’t be using it anymore anyways - i refuse to pay for an amputated version of reddit EDIT: i’m probably wrong about having to pay, per the 100 requests/minute free tier limit, but the amputated version of reddit comment still stands.
i just donated to the dev and made my peace with it. i might use old.reddit a bit longer after july 1 but that’s it
i’m on the fence.
i’m waiting for more reports of ChimaeraOS or HoloISO users to pop up (ETAPrime already did a first look at the ROG Ally running ChimaeraOS and it wasn’t too bad, for something without proper driver support yet).
i’m really interested in VRR / 120Hz support (as well as the much better quality of the screen), but there’s no way i’d be dailying windows (except for some game pass titles).
i’m very happy with the Steam Deck, mind you, and it’s my only PC atm, so i’d like a somewhat similar experience. i know i would have to compromise on lower wattage performance and that battery life would probably be worse for indie titles / emulation 5th gen and below, but that’s a small fraction of my use case anyways.
Agreed, a week is not nearly enough for a lot of games, which is why I really wanted to interface with HLTB.
If you want an excuse to get to Coquitlam, North Van or New West, for instance, you’ll see how most Lower Mainland libraries have longer borrowing times (usually 2 to 3 weeks) and pretty great selections too.
