I liked Jeff Geerlings take as well. It’s pretty much the same though…
Interesting, I first heard about nixos from the self-hosted podcast. It seems like a neet idea and I do think I’ll eventually try it out. It just seems like a lot to learn right now. To be clear, I’d prefer to use it on a server. Though, I may try it on a laptop first. Anyone with experience in desktop or server have any input?
I’ve installed Linux mint on almost everyone’s computer that I play IT for. My grandparents never really noticed the difference between it and Windows 7 they had before. My mom pretty much only uses the browser so she doesn’t really care. It’s funny that I use Windows on my desktop. I’m a gamer and I can’t even play most of my games on Linux (competitive first person shooters). But my laptop, steam deck, and servers all run Linux.
I took me long enough that I forgot about it and was super confused when I got my invite. But, I believe they are speeding up now. I can’t say though.
That’s actually pretty useful!
Cheers!
They said that cheating is way more important to battle than the 1% of gamers on Linux. I can see the point. Epic doesn’t exactly stop it. It’s only a matter of time that cheaters get rampant IMO.
I believe that Linux players just can’t join official servers and they plan to have community servers eventually.
Your gonna love Beeper. Once you can get an invite that is…
On that, do something illegal and brag about it type beat.
Good to know. Thanks!
I couldn’t have said it better myself. The wasted space because of duplicate dependencies is negligible and worth it.
It can be said straight away that there is no such thing as a Battlebit Original (and at the same time there is). There was no other game before Battlebit that could be called an original. So why does Battlebit have Remaster in its name? It is related to the long production cycle.
The developers explain that the game has been in production since 2016 and a lot has changed. Apparently “the game has been rewritten 3 times, and its core worked 2 times”. So it could be said that there has only ever been one Battlebit game, however, it has undergone so many changes since the original version that the developers felt the word Remaster was more fitting for the current state of the game compared to its origins.
Other people have already addressed the waste portion of your argument. The part that I’d like to address is the “expertise needed”. I completely agree with how difficult it can be to learn. I mean, just calibrating your printer can be a whole job. However, I don’t think it’s necessarily something that everyone would have to have a printer to get the benefits of the tech. I already see many people that sell “3D-Printing services” I have my own 3D-printer, but I have even paid people to print certain things for me. If people can find 3D-printable files (thangs, printables, thingiverse) then they can get someone to pay for much cheaper and faster than ordering a rare part overseas.
I agree. I love my VR. But, I also see that without more adoption it won’t go much further than it already has. Apple stepping in might really help the space. The price is a bit concerning though…
The image is so perfect…
Minecraft. I’ve been playing since Beta and host Minecraft servers in my homelab for my friends. I don’t think I’ve gone a whole year without playing it in a very long time.
The way to do it in kbin is to go to the magazine section specifically. The normal search doesn’t find magazines I believe. Then search in the following format: syncforlemmy@lemmy.world
. I use that as an example because I had to learn this very thing a few minutes ago.
Sick.
