If someone plans to move to my neighborhood and that one has a record of burning down houses, it’s not a good idea to give it a chance.

Let’s start with Facebook first, the platform that made a walled garden out of

• messengers (went from XMPP to walled garden)
• websites (businesses having facebook pages rather than freely accessible websites)
• used product markets
• online communities
• email (sending email to a Facebook user is converted into a private message on Facebook rather than sending out the email, at least that was a thing in the past)
• … (insert any Facebook service here)

You can’t trust Facebook, it’s about turning its users into a product for marketers, and that’s it.

There is a downside: Because many people don’t see the negative long-term effects, Facebook will have enough time to influence and dominate the Fediverse in a negative way. The masses don’t see what Facebook is doing in the long run.

There’s also not much reason to federate with Facebook. Sign up there if you like that network.

I think many go dark without announcement. In the last hours the list of participating subreddits grew from 3500 to 6000. You can search it on https://reddark.untone.uk/, it’s there now.

Thanks! I read somewhere else as well about having to wait a bit, but in this case it doesn’t seem to be the reason. The searched community shows up when being searched via the search icon on the top right of the page, but still doesn’t show up in the search via the community section, even with scope set to “all”, and the search form looking exactly the same as the one of the search icon.

Problem is practically solved now, just still a bit confused.

I’m still a bit curious about the other search dialog of the Community page: Even with the type set to “Communities” and the focus set to “all,” it doesn’t yield any results. Expecting it to display the searched community might be a misconception on my part about how Lemmy or the Fediverse works, or could it be more like a usability bug in Lemmy?

I think one of the misconceptions about the Bullet Journal is that it is something that needs afford or attention on a regular basis. It is actually just a list in a paper notebook that is on standby and whenever something goes around your mind that distracts your focus, you write it down, e.g. a task that you don’t want to forget, or some event or notes that you want to remember. There’s no rule of having to be “complete”. Don’t worry, you can’t abandon something that doesn’t need maintenance and is just there to be used when you want to use it. It’s not a planning tool, no need to feel guilty when not using it for a while.

If you want to try it, I suggest to grab a random cheap paper notebook with about 60 pages, and write something on that list whenever you feel like you want to, not when you feel you have to, for example:
