The collision occured at 400 feet which is a very normal place for a helicopter to be. This occured very near the approach end of a runway, which is more unusual, but doesn’t mean they’re automatically in the wrong for being “anywhere close to a commercial jet’s flight path”.

Navy variants of the Blackhawk do not have TCAS. I can only assume the army is similarly lacking that function.

As to the scam, the unfortunate reality is that the price is already higher to account for fees, and it makes no difference if you pay cash or card. So Americans have the choice to either pay cash or pay card with cash back, even if the price is the same. Also there are better protections in the states for credit card purchases than debit card purchases, so there’s an advantage there as well.

Nothing so fancy. Just a bamboo press on springs with tightening nuts. Not even sure on the brand. Bought it to make sure I’d like it/get use out of it, and it’s been going strong for 6 years or so.

Beyond my chef knife, my tofu press. It’s such a simple thing, but it makes my tofu cook better and is way easier than wrapping in and finding two plates and something heavy like I used to do.

I also self host FreshRSS. Was super easy to setup. I don’t expose it, so when away from home I use wire guard to connect to my home network.

Beyond my normal use case, I still think there are some Internet things that are “big screen” tasks. Too many websites still have poorly optimized mobile interferfaces.

In these cases, though, access to abortion means less suffering, both for the fetus/child and the mother.

I think academia is entirely different from news. This is research often funded with public money where the article fees aren’t going to the author. Seems a lot more reasonable to demand that the public should be able to read it for free.

It’s often covered under obscenity and sex offender laws, though.
