Public instances will easily hit the 100 requests per minute restriction on the free tier. Some apps like RedReader are exempt from the new restrictions, I wonder why they can’t use their API keys in the meantime but maybe it’s more complicated than that.

This is inaccurate. They won’t ship this in an official release due to legal issues. The current plan is to allow instance operators to set their own API key.
There is also the https://wefwef.app PWA which is inspired by Apollo and looks like a native iOS app. Here is also the project’s github.
Up for me at the moment. Maybe it was down for maintenance at the time.
The https://wefwef.app PWA is very good, I only wish it looked like an Android app. Not a fan of iOS UI design in general.
If ads weren’t a massive security/privacy risk I would turn off my adblocker to support those I care about.
The dev got an exception from Reddit until they get their subscription up and running. They posted this on their subreddit.
