In the U.S., the SI system is used extensively in fields such as science, medicine, electronics, the military, automobile production and repair, and international affairs. The US uses metric in money (100 cents), photography (35 mm film, 50 mm lens), medicine (1 cc of drug), nutrition labels (grams of fat), bottles of soft drink (liter), and volume displacement in engines (liters). In 3 domains, cooking/baking, distance, and temperature, customary units are used more often than metric units. Also, the scientific and medical communities use metric units almost exclusively as does NASA. All Aircraft and Air traffic control use Celsius temperature (only) at all US airports and while in flight. Post-1994 federal law also mandates most packaged consumer goods be labeled in both customary and metric units.

The U.S. has fully adopted the SI unit for time, the second. The U.S. has a national policy to adopt the metric system. All U.S. agencies are required to adopt the metric system.

Mandatory signs are road signs that are used to set the obligations of all traffic that uses a specific area of road. Most mandatory road signs are circular in shape and may use white symbols on a blue background with a white border, or black symbols on a white background with a red border, although the latter is also associated with prohibitory signs.

  • Many races believe that the creation of the Universe involved some sort of God, though the Jatravartid people of Viltvodle VI believe that the entire Universe was in fact sneezed out of the nose of a being known as the Great Green Arkleseizure. The Jatravartids live in perpetual fear of the time they call “the Coming of the Great White Handkerchief,” somewhat similar to the Apocalypse. However, the Great Green Arkleseizure theory is not widely accepted outside Viltvodle VI and so, the Universe being as wide and strange as it is, other explanations are constantly being sought by different races throughout the Galaxy.

Deer eyes have pupils that are wide, horizontal slits, as you can see in the image above. This shape allows them to let in more light than human pupils can, especially as they open wider in low-light conditions. It also is important in detecting movement across a wide, horizontal view where danger is most likely to appear. While this pupil shape helps them monitor a broader area, they sacrifice sharpness. Normal human eyesight is 20/20. Deer have a normal daylight eyesight of about 20/60, which means they see 3 times less clearly than humans!

They are best adapted to be “crepuscular,” active around dawn and dusk.

Deer sacrifice clarity and focus for the ability to detect danger in almost every direction at once.

By February 2001, the excavator had completely exposed the coal source at the Tagebau Hambach mine and was no longer needed there. In three weeks it made a 22-kilometre (14 mi) trip to the Tagebau Garzweiler, travelling across Autobahn 61, the river Erft, a railroad line, and several roads. The move cost nearly 15 million German marks and required a team of seventy workers. Rivers were crossed by placing large steel pipes for the water to flow through and providing a smooth surface over the pipes with rocks and gravel. Special grass was seeded to smooth its passage over valuable terrain. Moving Bagger 288 in one piece was more economical than disassembling the excavator and moving it piece by piece.

  • this one is mad ☞ Death of Brian Wells

    death by explosive collar

Investigators concluded Wells was a willing participant in the robbery, but was told the bomb was fake.

He was described as “childlike”. At the time of the bank robbery, he had been working at Mama Mia’s Pizza-Ria for at least ten years.

Diehl-Armstrong, Barnes, and Rothstein all seem to have suffered from compulsive hoarding.

In 1984, she killed her boyfriend Robert Thomas by shooting him six times as he lay on the couch; she was subsequently acquitted of murder, claiming it was self-defense. Her husband and several other partners also died under suspicious circumstances.

Barnes was a retired television repairman, crack cocaine dealer, and Diehl-Armstrong’s “fishing buddy”. He suffered from diabetes

He was implicated in a 1977 murder after he gave a handgun to a friend who used it to murder a romantic rival; he later attempted to destroy the weapon but was granted immunity from prosecution in exchange for his testimony.

Rothstein was a handyman and part-time shop teacher, and was part of a group called the “fractured intellectuals”— intelligent people who were not well-adjusted.

Floyd Stockton was a convicted rapist of a disabled teenager and lived as a fugitive at Rothstein’s house.

The bomb used in the killing consisted of a hinged collar that worked like a large handcuff to go around the neck, four keyholes that went under the chin, and a rectangular housing containing two pipe bombs and two kitchen timers. One electronic timer hung down over the chest. The device had several decoys, such as unconnected wires, a toy cell phone, and deceptive warning stickers.

The instructions also included a scavenger hunt, listing a series of strictly-timed tasks of collecting keys that would delay detonation and eventually defuse the bomb. The pages warned that Wells would be under constant surveillance and any attempts to contact authorities would result in the bomb’s detonation. “ACT NOW, THINK LATER OR YOU WILL DIE!” was scrawled at the bottom of the instructions.

He appeared confident as he left the bank, swinging his cane gun and the bag of money “like Charlie Chaplin” according to one witness.

The collar of the bomb was still intact so authorities were forced to sever Wells’ head from his body so the bomb could be retained and investigated.

On September 20, 2003, Rothstein, who lived near the television tower, called police to inform them the body of a man, James Roden, was hidden in a freezer in a garage at his house.
