Before videotapes, we used to watch film strips with guided audio tapes that would beep to advance to the next image. Some would auto advance.

Share? As in have a slice of cake maybe.
It’s a haven for some older gen x and boomers. That was peak social media for them and that’s where they keep in touch mostly.
Oddly I’m not bothered by that line so much. I’m more disappointed with the title and the chorus. Richmond, being the capital of Virginia was a border state of the Civil War. Yes technically Washington DC is very much north of Richmond, but I think the song resonates more with a certain crowd due to the former reason vs the latter.
The song could have been better IMO if it targeted LOCAL governments by state, instead of trying to blame Rich Men North of Richmond. As if Rich Men South of Richmond wasn’t a thing…
Spider house.
I used DoorDash for a year with their membership. The pricing is criminal without one. Even with a membership and various discounts, it’s still high. My main issue with DD though, is the stores that get to set higher prices for DD. “Prices on this menu are set directly by the Merchant”. Crumbl does this, for example. Stores should not be enjoying a markup at all. Oh, and they don’t reliably tag Virtual Kitchens either.
I wonder if this includes PC?
“Buttermilk” in quotes or imitation buttermilk/buttermilk substitute is what it should be called. Not that it’s going to confuse any Vegans, but others may be confused with what’s considered vegan/vegetarian/allowed etc.
Wow, why am I surprised… They said they were going to keep accessibility for the blind, but it sucks so bad, it’s useless.
Brave of you thinking that I don’t have multiple Fediverse accounts. Buying those instances would be worthless, since users would just migrate to a different instance, even easier than moving from Reddit.
This is a great question. To add to this, what happens if/when/eventually there’s enough users to warrant big players (celebs/fortune 500) wanting to dip their toes into Lemmyverse? I don’t see this happening soon, but with enough growth, SOMEONE is going to want to reach this audience right? It’ll start slow but if the trend continues, it’s inevitable. Which is ok I think. The way I imagine it, celebs might have their own preferred curated/verified Lemmy instance. Maybe they’ll use affiliate links for merch and promos?
Back when I used reddit… weird saying I know, I consumed Reddit on my phone, my ipad, and desktop in various combinations, pretty much constantly. Phone/ipad during work, and additional desktop use after. Desktop using Reddit Enhancement Suite (unusable without really), and Apollo for mobile. Spez made going cold turkey on Reddit stupid easy for this heavy user of over 10 years.
It’s like going to your favorite donut shop every day for a decade, where your on good terms with the employees, but the boss is shit but you hardly ever see him so it’s ok. Then one day, instead of the usual server, Spez shows up, and hands you your favorite donut with a scoop of shit on top, and says that’s how they serve them now. Yeah, I’ll go somewhere else, thanks.
Poor Lord Farq-I mean Elon.
I prefer the metric system but have had to learn imperial due to being in the US. The only thing that bothers me is the date format. Prefer month/date/year (or y/m/d). Western calendars are organized by year/month/date. For me, writing 4/24 gives more information up front (time of year) than 24/4 (time of month).
This seems like the user should just create a new sign in for the site if they REALLY want said content, instead of leaving it up for the devs to do the work. Like we do now.
I read the second one like the Avatar TLAB intro.
So basically Walking Dead without zombies.
