This doesn’t really matter, but if you listen to “A Spoonful Of Sugar” from Mary Poppins, it transitions perfectly into the beginning of this song.
Well I can think of at least one case in the past few years where courtroom recordings turned the whole trial into a media fiasco and a witch hunt. Maybe it’s justified in some cases, but on the whole I personally think it’s unhealthy for justice.
love isolation
Maybe you would, but for most people it’s been proven to cause lasting damage
That’s not really because of the Apple vs Android ecosystem wars though. My understanding is that most of Europe uses third party apps because, at least until recently, pricing for phone and text plans was exorbitant, when considering that many Europeans are “roaming” and communicating with people in adjacent countries.
Having people treated differently to achieve equal outcomes is what we strive for. When it’s shown that minorities are discriminated against in hiring, people suggest affirmative action to level the playing field. When somebody is asked to testify again dangerous people, they’re put in witness protection to be afforded the same security as any average citizen.
When somebody carries a unique cultural status, such that they would surely be killed if left to their own devices, that person is given protection to ensure that they live, and aren’t handed a death sentence without trial. That’s not what Russia does. Really, one could argue that “not letting a political figure get assassinated” is the exact opposite of what Russia does.
Solitary confinement is inhumane and should be illegal.
Also we’re kidding ourselves if we don’t think he’ll get put in the most safe, cushy prison imaginable (assuming he’s charged)
I don’t know if I can make a case for “best” because it’s not from a well known artist, but I found This song about late stage capitalism a few months ago that’s pretty on the nose, and it rips.
I agree with a lot of what people have already mentioned, so I’ll add a few I haven’t seen yet
Happy to see Tiny Moving Parts getting mentioned. I actually just listened to Celebrate for the first time a week ago, and while I think it’s great, Pleasant Living still edges it out. I just love Always Focused, I wish there were a lot more super-positive emo songs like that.
Am I the only who thinks they sound more like Rush than Zeppelin?? To me their singer sounds like a dead ringer for Geddy Lee
It’s been almost a year since The Forever Story came out, but it was a classic in my mind from the first second I heard it. I haven’t listened to as much hip hop these past few years but that album pulled me right back in.
I’m not the biggest fan of J Cole, but he’s discovered and boosted some amazing artists.
I’ve just started listening to Siamese Dream again, it’s one of my go-to summer albums. My favorite Pumpkins album my far, It’s just so crisp and crunchy in such a pleasing way
Not Breakfast in America?
+1 for Twin Fantasy. I haven’t listened to a lot of CSH’s discography but man that album… every time I hear a song I’m pulled back in and end up listening to the whole thing. It’s amazing how quickly those 15 minute songs seem to end.
Regardless of the fuel, single-passenger vehicles are an incredibly inefficient mode of transportation. There’s no reason for many cities and city centers to be as car-centric as they are, and any energy savings that could be achieved with EVs in these cities would only be multiplied if wide roads were replaced with walkable paths and effective public transport.
My biggest problem (as an engineer) is that the hype around EVs ignores the possibility that there are better solutions. It’s easy to get invested in a cool idea but you can’t fixate on it and forget about the problem that you set out to solve in the first place.
Right? I came here to find new communities and regrow my online presence, not to stare back and laugh at the burning pile of rubble we left behind. (Although I suppose I should stop scrolling through “All”, it’s not like I ever did that on Reddit)
Eh, just because lots of women are playing games doesn’t mean they’re catered to women.
Don’t get me wrong, the industry’s come a long way from every female character having 28DD’s and videogame trailers being all about stoic badasses and explosions. I think the rise of indie games has been great for that. But there’s an undeniable male-coded streak that still exists in marketing and in the industry, especially at the AAA level, and there’s progress we can still make there.
Believe me, I know. I’ve tried and failed to quit at least 10 times now (everytime I come back it eventually just becomes a place for me to argue with strangers). I’m hoping my displeasure with their recent dealings will be enough to keep me off for good, and its definitely looking like Lemmy can fill the void (hopefully in a more healthy way).
But yeah I’m gonna miss using Reddit to answer all my Google questions, or to hear what people are saying about whatever new song I’ve discovered, even from its a tiny obscure band nobody’s heard of. The scale and scope of Reddit was a huge part of it’s value.
Down detector doesn’t actually “detect” if a site is down right? It just shows how many people are reporting that a site is down. If an unaware user logs on and every subreddit they visit says “this subreddit does not exist,” they might think there’s something wrong with reddit’s servers and report it.
Edit: just read the article, I see that its more than that
Great band, I just saw them last month. They brought a guy on stage in a banana costume, and made the crowd play twister in between songs.
