Holy crap, this will be huge for sff and 1u/2u chassis servers!

So there was a somewhat similar post a year ago where an intel engineer commented on why they are using tsmc. Essentially, and I’m really paraphrasing, tsmc was better at gpus because they were more efficient at wide architectures vs intel which is better at narrow/super high clock architectures. This was all before 18a though obviously.
Well I would 3, was waiting on a serverpartsdeal sale but they kept jacking prices up. Plus this has a 5 year warranty versus 2. And I paid the payments through zip via discover which doubles my warranty.
I’m guessing the gains from tsmc 3nm were not as good as everyone hoped. We see this in the new Apple socs. Intel probably couldn’t get power draw low enough with n3b to make it work in a portable environment. The rumors so far are that this chip is 25-35w. It’s already pushing the upper limits of what is ok, at least for hand helds.
Serverpartsdeals is the new hotness now. Outside of that regular exos, red pros and ironwolf pros go on steep sales now. Externals aren’t worth shucking anymore.
You’re way better off getting some refurb drives off serverpartdeals.com
I know it’s not going to happen, but all I want from iOS 18 is RCS. I get it’s their biggest Walled garden, but there are some friends of mine who would not switch to an iPhone if it was their only option. And unfortunately, they are in a bunch of my group chats.
So I bought 3 drives from that sale too. Mine have 4 year warranties and are missing a year. Newegg told me to talk to seagate and provide proof of purchase to get the date extended. I was going to do that today.
Another person reached out to me on here and is in the same situation…
I guess I’ll update after I speak to seagate.
