Edit: oh shit, did I eat the onion? Imma feel bad about that downvote if I missed the implied /s

starman2112toMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•A few weeks early but no one's complainingEnglish11·5 days agoIf the German government turned Auschwitz into a hotel and resort for people to throw parties and get married and ignore the atrocities that happened there, I’d be in favor of burning it down
starman2112toMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•A few weeks early but no one's complainingEnglish18·5 days agoI am specifically advocating for this to be burnt down. These monsters gleefully ignore the torture and murder that went on here when the building was made. Imagine modern Germans throwing parties and getting married at Buchenwald. Imagine if Dachau’s website made no mention of the 40,000+ people murdered there.
Historical sites shouldn’t be preserved just because they’re old. They should be preserved with context, and when the context is taken away, the reason to preserve them is as well.

You are correct, but implying something is not the same as literally stating something
Hated the jewelry one too
Only one I didn’t get. The parent hint threw me way off. Could not come up with a word that started with si- that had anything to do with it
I mean it wouldn’t be every social interaction. Not even a majority. Something like 2% of the population identifies as something other than their assigned gender at birth, and the majority of those are transgender individuals who make it very clear how they want to be referred to.
Understand that these people will continue to have the same gender identity whether you understand it or not. The alternative to apologizing to people when you misgender them is… not apologizing for it.
Sure, but I’m not gonna claim it’s equivalent until I start getting harassed regularly about my body
Like, until men have to deal with this shit, I’m happy to listen when women complain about men. Like one guy said, it’s not all men, but it’s too damn many
Personally I’ve never been offended because I know I ain’t the men they’re talking about
So you’re saying we could cut violent crime by roughly 80% if we were rid of men? Neat
It’s not necessarily a social faux pas to misgender someone, that’s a myth made up by conservatives. It’s a faux pas to intentionally misgender people.
Sorta like if you call someone Jeb and they correct you and say it’s Jed. It only becomes an issue if you insist on calling them Jeb.
The axe thing could legit be cool, if the logo didn’t look like dog shit to accommodate it
Just take the original logo and add some edges to the wings. Am I dumb, or does this look infinitely better than that stupid spiky rectangle? I’m sure someone else can do it better job, I did the best I could on my phone
starman2112to People Twitter•Which got wrecked worse by Lake Superior? Tom Fitton or the Edmund Fitzgerald?4·7 days agoMore reasonably, “wet” is often used as an adjective describing something that is liquid. Wet paint is, of course, wet.
starman2112to People Twitter•Which got wrecked worse by Lake Superior? Tom Fitton or the Edmund Fitzgerald?11·7 days agoHow is that a counter source? It’s just another definition of the word. Words can mean multiple things.
starman2112to People Twitter•Which got wrecked worse by Lake Superior? Tom Fitton or the Edmund Fitzgerald?12·7 days agoNo, and it takes a profound level of disingenuousness to bring the argument to this point. You must understand that the meanings of words are socially constructed, not aspects of physical reality. Usage is literally what determines the definitions of words.
Never thought I would live to see the day that what used to be a contemporary episode of Doctor Who would have to be viewed as if it was a time travel episode
