I just finished Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia and Even Though I Knew The End by CL Polk. I enjoyed both but wasn’t super wowed by either. I’m not sure what I’ll read next but…I’ve got options 😅
The Vision by Tom King/Gabriel Hernández Walta
Sex Criminals by Matt Fraction/Chip Zdarsky
Die by Kieron Gillan/Stephanie Hans
This and Kanban are my favorite Lacerda games, though I haven’t tried Vinhos/The Gallerist or several of the newer titles. I don’t know if I have enough brain space left to handle many more of his games, and On Mars definitely felt unnecessarily heavy to me (though I know some love it).
I didn’t know about it until it had started but as I’d already checked a few boxes, I started to pick books to read/listen to that fit the remaining squares (hard mode, usually) though I haven’t decided for certain what I’m going to use for some of the squares. Cool graphic, btw!
I more or less grew up reading High Fantasy, so I very much wanted stories with dragons and magic users and the like. Then I fell out of it for a long time (missed HP and GoT completely) and came back very recently to find my tastes are much different now. I want interesting characters and emotional impact and ideas to ponder more than wizards, swords, goblins and elves and epic quests.
I also find that my taste in prose is different than it used to be. Or rather my awareness of its role in drawing me in or putting me off has risen.
