Why not just drop a cpu into your existing board?
Why not just drop a cpu into your existing board?
Ah ok, glad to hear that. The official spec page still says 3.0 only and I remember them having 3 z690 itx revisions, the vanilla aorus ultra that was soft recalled, the ultra lite which was pcie 3.0 and the ultra plus which had the 4.0 working and fixed. I guess they should update their site info or something then.
Pretty sure the ultra lite version is just the original batch of busted boards with the pcie slot set to 3.0 in the bios out of the factory. There’s another different revision that has it actually working at 4.0 speeds.
Look for h510 itx boards on aliexpress, they got a few. You don’t need anything fancy to run an 11400.
I wouldn’t spend money on the 11700 at all. If you’re in US/Canada, 12600k is on sale right now and it’s an insane deal($153.00 USD).
The 4070 is 30% faster than the 4060ti for 56% more money but it does have more vram. In an ideal world, the 4070 would be like 429.99 USD or something but at 515, it’s kinda steep. I’d rather have a 4070 than a 4060ti obviously but the prices are what they are.
Top down coolers like the axp120-x67, nh-c14s, big shuriken etc definitely help cool the vrms fwiw. You could also get some cheap heatsinks with thermal pads to stick on the vrm, just make sure it doesn’t block cooler clearance.
Which b660 board is it specifically?
