The instant tell for me, from the start, is that having Premium didn’t let you use 3rd party apps.

Well, aside from the CEO’s behavior, anyway.

Why is this whole profit thing a question? Premium is literally “Pay us instead of seeing ads” and it doesn’t matter which frontend is using those resources if you’ve paid for them.

It would have solved all the theoretical problems, but not only didn’t reddit offer it, they rejected it. Totally disingenuous. They don’t want normal profit and money to run the servers, they want complete control over access to the content we generate, and all the metadata around that.

  • Yep. I dislike the layers upon layers of RNG that are “fixed” by a toxic marketplace.

Shards are a much better system. I would rather we get a version that works on weapons and have Rivens replaced.

Manually assign slot counts and/or types to weapons. Yes, it would take a day or two of someone who has thoroughly played the game going through and assigning them, but it’s better than the dynamic system.

Worst case, assign slots based on disposition and refund socketed shards if it goes down.

    Protests haven’t changed their mind?

    Reddit before:

    • The protest won’t do anything
    • We won’t remove mods
    • Users will democratically decide to reopen
    • Our revenue won’t be impacted

    Reddit now:

    • Banning some mentions of alternatives
    • Removing mods participating in protest/reopening subs if any singular mod agrees
    • Three huge subs have reopened, democratically voted (overwhelmingly) to continue protesting by becoming John Oliver fanclubs
    • Incoherent rants about landed gentry and MUH MONEYS

If you want a warframe subreddit back, make your own. No one’s stopping you. Go ahead and do all the work to set the sub up and run it.

Otherwise, you’re welcome here. You’ve already made an account. Just contribute instead of complaining.

  • I duno what the optimal solution is but it’s not what we have.

The drifter/operator thing makes it even worse for me! Though at least you’ve figured out how to use it to your advantage. Tangentially, I’d consider using Drifter more myself if they had crouch/void dash animations.

I think I would like separate loadouts that encompass operator cosmetics, amp selection, operator/amp arcanes, and focus school - then you can select which of these loadouts a primary loadout uses.

Sort of like they did with Archwing, but that’s now a weird conglomeration of halfway functional slots that are/aren’t tied to an archwing loadout.

I’ve heard rumblings that there is/was a complete arsenal overhaul partway done, but the spaghetti is extremely strong in that area.

In Circuit, I think we need to at least be able to pick our school for every run.

  • Returning to the game and noticing our much Focus I can get from Thrax

Also, don’t underestimate putting lenses on your gear. If you put r3/4 lenses in your frames you know you gain a lot of xp with, you’ll get tons of focus. Adding them to your best weapons is always a good idea.

If you can’t do 3/4s, put whatever you can on, it’s better than nothing, and you will end up with a lot of focus over time.

  • A local password manager, eg KeePass, is easy to use. At most basic, think of it like a spreadsheet that you save with a password. Managers add a bunch of features on top of that basic concept.

    1. You start it, you create a big password/phrase to encrypt it with (This is probably the hardest part, write it down somewhere until you’re confident remembering it)
    2. Record your existing accounts
    3. Create new accounts and/or update old passwords with new randomized (you can customize how) passwords, meaning each account has a password that can be breached without consequence
    4. Your database file, since it is encrypted, can be stored in a cloud provider for backup/easy access
    5. Improve integration with your browser or phone with extensions or apps that can read the database you made (For KeePass, there’s a few of each. I use KeePassium on iOS)

  • Yeah, and steve-o said as much.

To be honest, I don’t expect the blackout or protest to fix reddit at this point. The IPO is impending. the enshittification has begun. (That’s a great article if you haven’t read it)

But I know it has given a huge boost to alternative platforms like this, which gives me a place to hang out and do the same thing I was doing there, in a better way.

  • I’m being just as active here as I was there.

There’s more friction to join Reddit than there is to join dormi.zone at this point.

Unlike a lot of Reddit, r/warframe doesn’t really rely on the historical contents as much since we have the wiki, the official forums, the official discord, and the other discord.

I’ve loved Reddit for nearly as long as it has existed, but nothing lasts for ever.
