It’s April and I am sweating like crazy, it fucking sucks, but it also got me wondering what can I do? There is so much conflicting advice out there, even if I tell others about this, when they ask for a solution what do I tell?

There’s a lot of doom and gloom in the conversation here, but there are also nuggets of helpful information. Yes the situation is dire, but no it’s not “too late” to act.
Several people have pointed out the importance of voting, and I agree, this is the single most impactful thing you can do, but it’s more of a once-a-year action.
In the more day-to-day, the best thing you can do is talk about climate change. Talk about it with your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, whoever. Tell them the actions you’re taking, and why you’re taking them. Tell them about the interesting article you read and how it makes you want to try something new. Share in your excitement. Invite them to volunteer with you. Take them to lunch at that new vegan restaurant in town. Don’t focus on the doom and gloom, no one wants to hear how fucked we are, share your joy.
This is how you amplify your impact - grow your climate community. And guess what, when it comes time for them to make a purchase, maybe they’ll be thinking about climate impacts. When it comes time to vote, maybe they’ll favor the candidates and issues that promote climate action. Sharing and connecting with people is how you normalize climate action in your community, and how you amplify your actions.
Well said. Optimism and hope are important tools in climate change mitigation. It’s important not to lose sight of that in a sea of defeatism, I think.
