The graphics and environmental teams are pretty much the only ones doing the game justice.

Honestly, the coming flight and fps changes and theme-parky content have really killed my motivation to play this next patch. It’s being turned into a totally different game than the one I backed for.

      I disagree.
While this game has always been an excellent screenshot generator, in my opinion, the backend and networking teams are doing an amazing job with getting server meshing running. Not only that, we’ve seen 300+ player servers as well as server recovery being implemented.
This technology isn’t visually impressive, but it enables the game to expand planets and cities to handle more interiors, it allows seamless travel to other solar systems, and it allows us to recover from crashes where we would normally lose everything.

Well, sure, I shouldn’t exclude the team working on server meshing, it’s an impressive technical feat, but even when it’s officially in I’m not sure it will be a game I have any motivation to play with the direction they’re going. Which is more of a sad feeling than a salty one.

Waited a long time only for them to kind of do a switcheroo on the vision for the game.

The changes are to keep suckers coming back for more unreleased ships that cost hundreds of dollars

Well, the changes I’m talking about don’t really have anything to do with monetization. Releasing ships is probably the one thing they can be counted on to do given they’ve released hundreds of vehicles.

I was referring more to the dumbing down of the flight model to make it more “accessible”, starting to lean more into standard on-rails MMORPG type content (raids, mobs, dungeons etc.) and some really bad FPS decisions (crosshairs, higher TTK, dumbed down weapon handling, infinite stamina, sniper scope glint at night lol).

They’ve shoe-horned in a lot of the features from Squadron 42 now that its feature complete without much regard to whether or not those features belong in an MMO like SC.
