I’ve been saying for years that the United States isn’t finished because the Constitution is still balanced. Up until yesterday’s supreme Court decision, voting made a difference. Absolute executive power could easily devolve into true US authoritarianism.

minus-squareVaryklinkfedilinkarrow-up10·edit-25 months agoHa, sorry, no offense was meant to you or the meme, it’s solid. I meant the idea that the checks and balances were about to be completely destroyed was outdated. The supreme Court already abolished the remainder of constitutional executive checks and balances, absolute executive power cripples US stability.

minus-squareVaryklinkfedilinkarrow-up1·5 months agoHooo, way more, unfortunately, you are right on the money with the supreme Court f****** up civil rights. I just think that this time it’s really at the peril of us stability. Absolute executive power with immunity is the final step before complete actual and practical authoritarianism.
