    How long does it take you to eat the bread that mold starts to appear ??? In my house bread is pretty much gone in two days, most times less than that.

      You obviously never lived by yourself. A full loaf of bread for a single person can take a while to eat unless you eat nothing but sandwiches breakfast, lunch and dinner.

        I have been living alone for years, I buy a baguette in the morning and it last the day, or maybe the next day, never longer. Though in France we eat bread almost at every meal. But even If I ate less of it, there are smaller breads available, just need to scale the quantity you buy based on the quantity you eat.

        I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m not judging people who buy large quantity and freeze or refrigerate it, everyone does what they want, I was simply surprised to see so many comments of people having mold on the bread.

          I can very rarely get mould on bread. Buuuut, I tend to buy 2 loaves of cheap bread that sit in a bread bin. Maybe if i have been out on the bike a lot and have not had lunch at home for a few days, do I maybe see the some mould near the end of the 2nd loaf.

          But like you say, living by myself, I have found that 2 loaves pretty much perfectly align with when I do shopping, and very rarely do I throw out bread from mould.

      I use bread mostly only for toast. So awhile. Especially since my husband likes sour dough and I like whole wheat.

      My guess is that most ppl who put bread in the fridge buy that sliced rectangular stuff in a plastic bag (at least my flatmate did that). Bread from a bakery, which has a crunchy crust should not be put in the fridge, as others have pointed out.

      After 4 days the cut gets dry and hard at about 6 days it might start to mold. You can cut the mold but rather cut too much than too little.

      If you regularly cut the bread it can be used longer without molding. The crust doesn’t mold that fast.

        You absolutely can’t cut the mold with bread. If it shows moldy spots, the fungus already penetrated the whole piece, even if it’s not visible. You can remove mold from hard food like cheese or foods that are high in sugar like marmalade.

          You are probably correct, but if you cut a huge piece of you at worst probably only will get diarrhea

              That’s a safe way to handle it. But as long it isn’t blue you probably won’t have any effects if it doesn’t taste bad.
