I don’t really know which community to post this in, I think this is the most relevant one?

I’ve recently spent a bit more time on lemmy.world and I have to say they don’t seem super keen on removing trolls and transphobes, same for instances like lemmings.world.

The moderators seem to be perfectly aware of transphobic replies, vague threats, misinformation, and obvious trolling, yet they hardly remove any of the offending replies, and rarely if ever ban anyone. Certainly not often enough to make the network less toxic.

This post was mostly to vent, but I would also like to ask: when you report someone, who receives the report? Mods on my instance? The mods of the specific community I’m reporting from?

Sorry if this is the wrong place.

World is pretty hit or miss like that, unfortunately.

But it comes down to individual mods. There’s some C/s that have mods listed that aren’t active, and haven’t gotten weeded out yet. And you have some real assholes there as mods and users, which is to be expected from the larger instances (the one I’m in as well, shithustworks has some major jerks here and there)

Iirc, both mods and admins have access to reports, but most instances of any size, the admins really don’t have the time to handle them.

We try to do our best, but we can only catch so much on a given day. Please use the report button if you find anything hateful. The site admins have little patience for biggorty ❤️

Y’all do a great job considering how lemmy kinda blew up over the last year. While I’ve seen the bad stuff, it doesn’t stay up long that I’ve noticed. And that’s all anyone can ask
