The sensitive data of several Israeli athletes in the Paris Olympic Games was published on Telegram in an alleged doxing attack on Friday.

A hacking group calling itself “Zeus” (likely a nod to the Games’ Greek origins) is allegedly responsible, and also purportedly leaked the military status of Israeli athletes on social media a day prior.

Exactly!!! If we’re already assuming they served in the military, why do we need any more information than their name? What is the end goal of the dox?

I believe the end goal is to cause conversations like the above.

For the stupid people like me, what is the conversations they are trying to have. All I see is someone advocating they since they are Israeli they should be doxxed for being so.

For them I don’t think it matters. I think the whole goal is to have further awareness and having people burning time on it like we’re doing right now brings more awareness to the issue regardless what side you’re on. They believe their side is just so that it will win out in general and bringing further awareness and making people think about it can only be a good thing.

          Tl;Dr: awareness.

You’re not stupid; that’s exactly what they’re doing.

I’m not though? They’re Israelis that have the platform to speak out against the genocide and are not doing so, but instead are ‘advertising’ for their country.

Do you honestly think they’re allowed to do something like that?

Probably not, however depending on how they phrase it I doubt there would be extreme consequences and even then, there have been countless examples of athletes refusing to return to their home countries and instead staying in the host countries.
