Wasn’t this whole thing a conservative 5th column? I was under the impression that her primary challenger had taken a LOT of conservative (and AIPAC) money.

More or less, although I’d say there were two kinds of conservatism that took her down. AIPAC threw an insane amount of money at her opponent, but it was still a Democratic primary in a place where Palestinian genocide isn’t that popular, so instead of talking about Israel they focused pretty much all of their ads on how she was insufficiently loyal to the Democratic party when she fought for the Green New Deal to be included in the infrastructure bill.

So we’ve got knowingly deceptive and manipulative Israel boosters on the one hand, and on the other we’ve got easily manipulated Democratic moderates who (I think) genuinely believe they’re being fair and righteous when they let Joe Manchin and Jon Tester and people like that say all kinds of negative things about Biden and repeatedly sabotage all of his policy priorities but come down on progressives like a ton of bricks for trying to make the crap legislation we’ve seen over the last four years a tiny bit better.

So I think what we need is someone with the intellect and patience to explain to these moderates how they’re being idiot assholes and getting played by genocidal paychopaths (somehow I don’t think they’ll listen to it coming from me), and then we need to thoroughly root out all the lobbyist corruption that’s infiltrated Democratic party leadership (including but not limIted to AIPAC), and then finally that new leadership needs to establish a culture where, if your primary campaign takes money from reactionary groups during a primary, the loyal party voters (e.g. people who show up to local Democratic party events, are on mailing lists, volunteer, etc.) will vote you down every time on principle (a’la how they did Cori Bush, Nina Turner, etc.). Anything short of that and we’re just going to keep going through the “Democrats in disarray” to “hold your nose to get Republicans out of seats they won while we were in disarray” cycle.

e; would you believe there were even more run on sentences in a prior draft
