Israel’s prime minister indicated that he “did not even respond” to proposals aimed at bringing about a temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, as Israeli forces continued raining down air strikes on Lebanon.

On Thursday, US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron published a joint statement calling for a 21-day truce, aimed at paving the way for broader negotiations for a permanent ceasefire.

Just hours later, however, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office rejected the idea.

“The news about a ceasefire - not true. This is an American-French proposal, to which the prime minister did not even respond,” his office said.

“The prime minister instructed the [Israeli army] to continue the fighting with full force, and according to the plans presented to them,” it said, adding that hostilities would continue in Gaza too.

Looking at the source, it’s very unclear to me how they count.

    For example:

    1. Hezbollah launches 50 missiles from 10 locations at Israel at the same time. Is that 1 attack, 10, or 50?
    2. The IDF then bombs the 10 locations where the missiles were launched from. Is that 1 attack or 10?

In self defense, it’s allowed to deny the attacker the ability to continue his attack. That means if you have a stack of 10 snow balls and throw one in my face, it’s okay to destroy all 10 snow balls to stop the attack.

Israel has better intelligence, technology, weapons, more money, and a full fledged military.

Yes, they are the aggressor. Hezbollah only exists as blowback from Israel’s previous invasions and occupation

Wouldn’t exist without the ayatollah in Iran. Their ideology is the same as Iran’s.

They would exist regardless of Iran, the exist because of Israel’s Settler Colonialism, which Israel will never stop doing

Their ideology and finances would be different, if they were Arab nationalists or even Ba’athist. Islamists are fundamentally more difficult to deal with.

Islamists are not ‘fundamentally more difficult to deal with’ than any other religious ideology.

If you’re issue is radicalization, then you should also be against Zionist aggression. The realities of Settler Colonialism, bombing civilians, stealing land, violent occupation, will inevitably radicalize those people to resist that violence by whatever means they can.
