The Empire was right, though. Rebels are terrorists, dude.

How else could they test a weapon capable of destroying planets? That act was part of a scientific research!

They destroyed a planet that attacked the Empire, much like nuclear bombs, that was a deterrent that kept other planets from joining the same power-grab AllTheWrong planet/monarchy was supporting and prolonging the war.

Republic would have enslaved & bombarded the shit out of it, then had years of ground assault campaigns - that is so much more financially lucrative.

Empire ended wars that have been going on forever, got rid of seriously corrupted religious private group that had power over every aspect of the republic, and Palpatine was voted into power by several democratic layers.

Analkin was an abused slave his whole life & had enough of that bullshit. Basically only made one big free decision in his whole life (and even that was (attempted) murder of some geriatric head of state).

Luke was guided into de facto terrorism by the powerless remnants of previous elites that wanted to get back into power (and ultimately kinda did).

The propaganda how a religious group A is good but religious group B is bad is just insane - they both do the same shady bullshit, kidnap kids, manipulate leaders, kill without consequences, etc.
Its just that the Jedi were historically victorious over Sith (or at least had their golden age chronologically after the Sith had theirs) so they wrote the (re)public opinion on Sith.
