I changed the title. It’s an interesting story, but the original headline was clearly a clickbait framing.

I got two paragraphs in. I’ve been trying to cut back on swearing, however WHAT THE ACTUAL BATSHIT FUCKERY IS THIS? It’s like if the laws were written by mirror universe Terry Pratchet. I couldn’t follow it at all.

Pennsylvania is trying to detect when someone sent in an improperly enclosed ballot, and if they messed up, give them a chance to fix it so they can still vote.

The whole thing is a little more difficult than it needs to be, because of Republicans. But it seems to be squared away now. People can fix their ballots if they tried to vote but made a mistake in how they enclosed their ballot.

Unfortunately, putting that question in front of the courts puts the whole thing at risk of being put in front of the Supreme Court, which has affirmed its belief that election things that are only there to benefit Republicans are OK even if they make no sense and lead to people’s votes not being counted. So there’s a little bit of danger. People who believe in elections are presumably going to monitor the situation and start squawking if something else goes wrong in the future.

      Hope this helps.

That was immensely helpful, thank you. I don’t see why anyone’s vote should have issues due to how it was “enclosed,” but that sounds very on brand for Republican thinking. Maybe we should measure how ballots smell and taste as well (/s). I just mailed in my Massachusetts ballot. I put the ballot into a sleeve, and put the sleeve in an envelope. Boom. Done. Really hard to mess up.
