    Does bi-monthly mean twice a month or every other month?

      It’s supposed to be -

      semi-monthly means twice a month
      (semi-circle = half a circle = half a month)

      and

      bi-monthly is every other month
      (bicentennial = 2 centuries = 2 months)

      But the terms have been so commonly conflated that dictionaries and style guides reference both definitions (especially for “bi-”)
